The team has named Austin Wayne Self as its driver for the 2020 season.

AM Racing, Austin Wayne Self prepared to roll the dice at Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev.: Looking to rebound from circumstances beyond their control last weekend at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, AM Racing driver Austin Wayne Self and his Eddie Troconis led team are ready to roll the dice in this Friday night’s NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series race at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway.

While running towards the top-10 last Friday night at Daytona, a mistake by another driver triggered an accident that wiped Self and others from the season opener. Despite the sour finish, the family-owned team was upbeat about their on-track performance and hope Daytona was a preview of what’s to come in 2020.

“It’s hard to be mad about last weekend at Daytona, because that’s Daytona,” said driver Austin Wayne Self. “It’s disappointing because I felt like we had a truck capable of running inside the top-five and contending for the win and we were done for the night not even 50 laps into the race.

“We’re going to Vegas though focused and ready to hit “restart” on the season and get some momentum before we head to Atlanta in a few weeks.”

Self is no stranger to Las Vegas’ 1.5-mile oval. In his previous six starts, Self has one top-10 finish in 2018 and maintains an average finish of 16.3 since 2016.

With finishes of 15th and 17th last year respectively, Self says those finishes won’t cut it in 2020.

“We’ve spent a lot of time working on our mile and a half program,” added Self. “Afterall that’s the bread and butter of the Truck Series for the most part. I feel like Eddie and I are in a good place as far as communication goes – we’re just working hard to make our trucks better.

“I’m hoping that we’ll be able to show just how hard we’ve worked on our trucks with our first top-10 finish of the year on Friday night.”

Joining the AM Racing team on Friday night is JB Henderson Construction – who is renewing their partnership with the Statesville, N.C.-based team but upping their commitment for the 2020 season.

Established in 1959, JB Henderson performs general and mechanical contracting and is dedicated to serving their customers and employees through collaborative construction focused on safety, solutions, and skill.

In addition to a primary role at Las Vegas, the company will have a predominate associate partnership placement throughout the remaining 21 races.

“I’m so thankful to see JB Henderson Construction increase their support with our AM Racing team this season,” added Self. “For many years now, we have welcomed the support of JB Henderson – but to now have the opportunity to represent them in a larger role is a huge boost for our team heading to Las Vegas.”

For the series’ first of two trips to Sin City this season, JB Henderson Construction and GO TEXAN will serve as major associate partners for Friday night’s race.

Don’t mess with Texas, CForce Bottling Company, Flying Circle and Kreuz Market will serve as associate partners in the second race of the year.

In 85 NGROTS races, the 2014 ARCA Menards Series Rookie of the Year has two top-fives (second at Daytona 2017, fifth at Michigan 2019) and seven top-10 finishes. The Texan maintains an average finish of 18.1 during his five years of competition.

The Austin, Texas native is nestled 27th in the championship standings with 22 races remaining.

About AM Racing:

AM Racing is a NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) team owned by entrepreneur Tim Self. Established in December 2015, AM Racing is headquartered in Mooresville, N.C. Operated by Self, a native of Austin, Texas, the team is prided on faith, honesty and intelligent performance.

The team has named Austin Wayne Self as its driver for the 2019 season.

Austin Wayne Self, AM Racing ready to double down in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev: With just five NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) races remaining in the 2019 season, every race is important for AM Racing and driver Austin Wayne Self.

As the series returns following a quick two-week break, Self and his Eddie Troconis led team head to Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway looking to roll the dice and deliver another top-five finish in Friday night’s World of Westgate 200.

Since delivering a sixth-place finish at Kentucky Speedway in July, AM Racing hasn’t finished outside the top-15. With one top-five, two top 10s and six top-15 finishes in-between, the Mooresville, N.C.-based team certainly has hit its stride during the summer stretch and shows no signs of slowing down.

“I always enjoy going to Las Vegas,” said Self. “It’s a track that embraces NASCAR racing and the fans are incredible. The race track is also a lot of fun. It’s a fast race track where drafting is critical, and handling is crucial.

“AM Racing has enjoyed a lot of success on the bigger tracks this summer and I’m eager to see if we can keep that momentum going on Friday night. “It’s going to be hot, but we expect that during fall in Las Vegas. If we can keep up with the track conditions going from day to night, we should have an opportunity to earn our fourth top-10 of the year.”

Self will make his sixth career start at the 1.5-mile speedway. After finishing ninth in the fall race last year, the Austin, Texas native returned to Sin City in March and delivered a strong top-15 finish.

With so much learned in the past year, Self isn’t counting out an opportunity to put his AM Racing team in Victory Lane if the circumstances work out.

“Winning is not out of our hands at AM Racing,” explained Self. “We have showcased that we have the speed in our trucks – we just need the race to play into our hands as far as strategy goes and we should have the chance to capitalize on it.

“We’ve seen where fuel mileage can be a late race factor and hopefully we’re in a position to take advantage of that. With Las Vegas being a cutoff race for the Playoffs, I think you’re going to see a chaotic race but for those of us not in the Playoffs, it’s a good chance for us to showcase our stuff.

“Should be a fun race for the fans.”

AM Racing team manager Kevin Cywinski says he is exceptionally proud of the results the team has shown lately.

“Austin, Eddie and the team have been doing a fantastic job,” offered Cywinski. “We have recovered from a couple of mishaps late in the spring and early in the summer and really have been focused on going out there and not leaving anything on the table.

“I think everyone has executed well and that has given the whole team a good morale not only at the track but at the race shop. Everyone is really upbeat about this last stretch of races and the opportunity to not only run well but perhaps win a race by the end of the season at Homestead.”

For the series’ return trip to the West Coast, alongside GO TEXAN, AM Technical Solutions will serve as a major associate partner for Friday night’s race.

GO TEXAN, celebrating its 20th Birthday this year, represents Texas agri-business on state, national and international levels by building recognition with the GO TEXAN mark will continue its primary role with AM Racing this weekend at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway

Don’t mess with Texas, CForce Bottling Company, Flying Circle and Kreuz Market will serve as associate partners in the 19th race of the year.

Austin Wayne Self; AM Racing hope teamwork effort rewards jackpot performance at Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Teamwork, dedication and determination collided over the weekend for AM Racing to prepare the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) team for Friday night’s Strat 200 at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway.

While contending for a solid top-15 finish this past Saturday afternoon at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway, the Mooresville, N.C.-based team found themselves a victim in a late race incident. The damage to the team’s No. 22 GO TEXAN | JB Henderson Construction Company Chevrolet Silverado sent the Eddie Troconis-led team pedaling hard back to the team’s shop in North Carolina to prepare another race truck to utilize for competition in the third Truck Series race of the season.

After nearly 36 hours of teamwork, focus, and diligence, the team was able to build a new Chevrolet Silverado for Self to compete with in his fifth race at the 1.5-mile speedway.

“I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of the guys on this AM Racing team,” said Self. “We struggled during the Atlanta race with our handling, but Eddie worked hard, and we got a lot better.

“Unfortunately, we were moving to the front when we got swept up in a crash on a late race restart.

“The truck was damaged pretty good, so the guys rushed back to the shop after the race and spent all day Sunday and Monday morning putting another truck together for this weekend. That meant a lot to me. Nobody complained. We all got in there and helped one another and hopefully our hard work will be rewarded in the race on Friday night.”

Self, 22, returns to Las Vegas after earning a ninth-place finish last September. Overall, the Austin, Texas native hasn’t finished worse than 21st in his four prior starts. He carries an average finish of 16.5 since 2016.

“I like racing at Las Vegas,” added Self. “Last March, the Truck Series race was crazy as the draft really came into effect and it provided a very entertaining race for the fans but a mentally exhausting race for the drivers. At times, it felt a lot like we were racing at Daytona or Talladega.

“I think you will see the same type of racing this weekend. It’s a very fast track and the temperatures will be cool so that will provide good racing. We need to bounce back after our Atlanta finish and get ourselves in a good spot to earn some more stage points and make a dent in the standings before taking our first break of the year.

“Speed matters a lot at Vegas, but you need to handle too, especially over the bumps. Eddie is really smart when it comes to setup and I think our No. 22 GO TEXAN | JB Henderson Construction Company Chevrolet Silverado will be competitive from practice to the race. No matter what happens on Friday though, I’m proud of my guys and their commitment to get us to the race track.”

Kevin Cywinski, team manager for AM Racing says the morale around the shop hasn’t changed despite the long hours over the last few days.

“If you are looking for the true definition of teamwork, AM Racing was the place to be the last couple of days,” he said. “Eddie’s leadership and our guys’ commitment to get a truck built for Las Vegas shows their passion for not only racing – but their faith in Austin as a race car driver.

“Our goal is a top-10 finish on Friday night and if we can accomplish that, it will feel like a victory.”

The Texas Department of Agriculture’s GO TEXAN program and JB Henderson Construction will support Self in his 66th career start.

GO TEXAN, celebrating its 20th Birthday this year, represents Texas agri-business on state, national and international levels by building recognition with the GO TEXAN mark.
